CASE STUDY - Search & Rescue

During an overseas training exercise, Cruz Roja, the international equivalent of the Red Cross, led a demanding session designed to prepare their team for real-world rescue operations. Our lights were deployed to provide essential illumination, ensuring a safe working environment with evenly distributed, glare-free lighting.

The exercise allowed the International Search & Rescue team to operate and familiarise themselves with the lighting equipment in a variety of rescue scenarios, enhancing their overall preparedness. The focus of the training was a simulated casualty trapped inside a vehicle on the edge of a cliff. The team needed to abseil and rappel down a steep slope, relying on the lights to navigate safely and maintain controlled descents thanks to the enhanced visibility provided.

The highly portable TL-300 Lighting Tower was positioned at the top of the hill, directing light downward, while the powerful TL-500 and PT-200H illuminated the base of the cliff. The PT-200H, with its handheld remote control, was able to operate up to 30 feet away, providing flexible lighting across a wide but targeted area, following the rescue team as they moved. Thanks to the bright, glare-free illumination, the team was able to safely rappel down to the vehicle, extract the trapped casualty, and carry them back to the designated rescue zone.

At the rescue area, the PL-300 was deployed, featuring its signature petal-head design that delivers balanced 360° illumination. This light was specifically chosen for its built-in diffusion technology, which provides glare-free, even lighting across a wide area - ideal for safety zones or designated rescue points. The lights portability proved invaluable here, allowing the team to illuminate areas that traditional lighting towers could not easily reach, such as steep cliffs or mountain peaks.

The lightweight design and purpose-built ergonomics made it easy for the team to carry the lights to the top, ensuring critical coverage exactly where it was needed. The casualty was successfully transported to the ambulance in record time, with credit given to the portable lighting towers for their vital support in the operations safety. This training exercise strengthened the team’s readiness for real-world operations, enhancing their ability to respond quickly and effectively to any situation at a moment’s notice.
